VSO is the world’s leading international non-governmental organisation that works through volunteers to create a fair world for everyone. Our work centres on those who are left out by society – those living in extreme poverty, or with disability and illness. Those who face discrimination and violence because of their gender, sexuality or social status. Those who are at risk from disaster, disease, and conflict.

But they are not passive beneficiaries of aid; they are the "primary actors" at the heart of our efforts. From their perspective, we define the issues, opportunities, and solutions that drive sustainable, locally led change. These individuals are the key agents of their own transformation.

Our Volunteering for Development (VfD) method supports the most vulnerable and marginalised to achieve their rights and bring about lasting change, to create a fair world for everyone. Rooted in addressing the fundamental causes of marginalization and vulnerability, our three core approaches – social inclusion and gender, social accountability, and resilience – guide our work in education, health, and livelihoods.

Role overview

As the Global Team Lead, you will lead and manage the implementation of the International Citizen Service (ICS) project, ensuring it delivers meaningful outcomes and the highest standards, including effective risk management and compliance with both donor reporting requirements and VSO values. You’ll also be the project's voice, responsible for communicating with the donor and representing the project with other partners and strategic stakeholders.

Please note that this is an anticipated opportunity subject to VSO securing the funding.

Ideal Applicant Summary

We know that how we do things is just as important as what we do. VSO is highly effective in working with volunteers and partners to build capacity and unlock the potential of communities. This is an exciting time to join our great team at VSO as the Global Team Lead for the anticipated ICS project. You will be a highly experienced project management professional with a strong proven track record in delivering complex commercial and/or multi country projects.

You will be someone who enjoys working with colleagues to provide an integrated approach to project delivery to achieve the best outcomes. In addition, you will be an expert in leading and developing project delivery teams to provide exceptional capability to ensure success.

The expected FCDO International Citizen Service (ICS) will give you an opportunity to deploy your great problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering change and improvement in a multi country project with a strong youth component.

If this sounds like you, we look forward to receiving your application.
